Maintenance of stainless steel pipes

Many of us mistakenly think that stainless steel pipes(welded pipe) will never rust. In fact, it is because stainless steel pipes has good corrosion resistance, but it will still rust under certain conditions. The reason why stainless steel pipes is not easy to rust is because a passive film (oxide film) is formed on its surface, which exists in the form of a more stable oxide in nature, although the use of stainless steel and other metals and the degree of oxidation Different, but all are subject to oxidation, a phenomenon commonly referred to as corrosion.

All metal surfaces exposed to corrosive environments will undergo electrochemical reactions or chemical reactions, and are uniformly corroded. The parts with weak corrosion resistance of the passive film on the stainless steel pipes surface undergo pitting reactions due to self-excited reactions, resulting in small holes; In addition, chloride ions close to the formation of a strong corrosive solution, which accelerates the corrosion reaction and intergranular corrosion cracking in stainless steel and stainless steel pipes, all of which will destroy the passivation film on the surface of stainless steel pipes. Therefore, the surface of stainless steel pipes must be cleaned and maintained regularly.

What should we pay attention to when cleaning stainless steel pipes?

When cleaning the surface of the stainless steel pipe, be careful not to scratch the surface, and avoid using detergents, steel balls, abrasives, etc. containing bleaching ingredients and abrasives. To remove the detergent, please rinse the surface with clean water after cleaning.

1. If there is dust and dirt on the surface of the stainless steel pipe that can be easily removed, it can be washed with soap, weak detergent or warm water.

2. The surface of the stainless steel tube is marked with a film, cleaned with warm water and weak detergent, adhered to the ingredients, and scrubbed with alcohol or organic solvent (ether, benzene).

3. The grease, oil and lubricating oil on the surface of the stainless steel pipe should be cleaned with a soft cloth, and then cleaned with neutral detergent or ammonia solution or special detergent from the stainless steel pipe factory.

4. Bleach and various acids are attached to the surface of the stainless steel pipe, immediately rinse with water, then soak with ammonia solution or neutral carbonated soda solution, and clean with neutral detergent or warm water.

5. The rainbow marks on the surface of the stainless steel pipe are caused by excessive use of detergent or oil stains, and can be washed off with warm water neutral detergent when washing.

6. The rust caused by the dirt on the surface of the stainless steel pipe can be cleaned with 10% nitric acid or abrasive cleaner, and it can also be cleaned with a special cleaner.

As long as the cleaning and maintenance methods of stainless steel pipes are used correctly, the service life of stainless steel pipes can be extended and their clean, bright and gorgeous style can be maintained.

Stainless steel pipes are generally used in petroleum, chemical, medical, food, light industry, mechanical instrumentation and other industrial pipelines and mechanical structural components. When the bending and torsional strength are the same, the weight is lighter, and it is divided into two categories: seamless pipes and welded pipes according to their production methods. The stainless steel seamless pipes specifications are expressed in millimeters of outer diameter * wall thickness.
